Still widely forested, with many acres of state forest land, the town features small town rural living with a well developed downtown inclusive of restaurants, stores, antique shops and the new Georgetown Savings Bank building. The town also has a new shopping center one block from the town center near the post office and Town Hall. The town's residents organize an annual Georgetown Days celebration during the weekend preceding the Fourth of July, including food, crafts, rides, entertainment and fireworks for the whole family. The Georgetown Historical Society hosts several events each year which have become part of the fabric of the town. Since 1854, the Erie Fire Association No. 4, Inc. has served the town and is one of the Georgetown Fire Department's two Fire Companies.
